  • How can I get a Registration Key?

    If you lost the Key originally provided to you when you registered the product previously, send us the e-mail address you used to register STOPzilla and a new Key will be sent to you in minutes via e-mail.

    IMPORTANT: Your Registration Key is a string of numbers and letters that is associated with your e-mail address. Be sure to provide your correct e-mail address. When entering your Registration Key, remember that it is case-sensitive. If you see an uppercase letter (ABC), type an uppercase letter, not a lowercase letter (abc).

  • How can I get help registering an online purchase of STOPzilla?

    It is assumed that you have already downloaded the Trial Version of STOPzilla from the STOPzilla Web site and purchased the product. If not, please click here. Then, click the big green button and follow the instructions on your screen.

    When you purchase STOPzilla, a message is displayed with your order number, indicating that you have purchased STOPzilla successfully. This means that your Registration Key will be e-mailed to you within minutes. When you receive your Registration Key, right-click on the SZ System tray icon in the lower right corner of your screen. From the main menu, select Register STOPzilla NOW. Type your e-mail address and Registration Key in the appropriate fields and click REGISTER. You're done!

    Remember: The Registration Key is case-sensitive. Uppercase and lowercase letters must be typed as they appear.

  • What does "Registration limit" mean when reinstalling STOPzilla?

    When you purchased STOPzilla, you bought a one-year (or Lifetime Upgrade) subscription for one computer (or more, if you purchased a bulk license.) STOPzilla will allow you to register only as many copies as you have purchased.

    If you have removed STOPzilla and need to reinstall it, purchased a new computer, or had your old computer reformatted, you will need to have your account reset. Please click here to send an e-mail to Customer Support. Indicate in your e-mail that you have reached your registration limit. Your account will be reset immediately.

    If you wish to protect your additional computers with STOPzilla, you can purchase additional licenses at a big discount. To get a quote, please click here to send an e-mail to Sales. Indicate the number of additional licenses you need and a representative will contact you.

  • How do I upgrade to the latest version of STOPzilla?

    Upgrades are new releases (versions) of STOPzilla. Unlike updates, which are minor enhancements to an existing version of the product, upgrades include major changes in functionality. When you purchase STOPzilla, you are entitled to all updates and upgrades for one year, at no additional cost. Subscribers who purchase Lifetime Upgrades are entitled to all upgrades and updates for the life of the product at no additional cost.

    You can set STOPzilla to download updates automatically: Double-click the SZ System tray icon in the lower right corner of your screen. From the navigation bar, a vertical row of buttons displayed on the left side of all major STOPzilla dialogs, select SCHEDULER. In the Automatic Updates group box of the SCHEDULER dialog, select Update Automatically. You can also choose to update the product manually. In most STOPzilla dialogs (REAL-TIME PROTECTION, POP-UP PROTECTION, SITEGUARD and SCHEDULER) you can click Check for Updates in the lower right corner of the dialog to launch the Updater manually.

  • Where can I get a link to download STOPzilla?

    You can install STOPzilla on your computer by downloading it directly from the homepage of the STOPzilla Web site. By default, the system downloads the trial version of the product. If you already have a Registration Key, you can register STOPzilla once the trial version is installed.

By default, STOPzilla opens to the Home console. In the lower right corner of the Home console, click Check for Updates to launch the Updater. Follow the instructions in the Updater dialog. If the problem persists, even with the new updates, call Customer Support, 1-877-877-9944 and we will have the problem fixed very quickly.

  • I still see Pop-ups with latest version of STOPzilla installed. What can I do?

First, please click here to go to the Download page. Click the big green button and follow the instructions on your screen. This will download the trial version to your computer. Then, you will need to register the product with your Registration Key. If you are running the trial version, STOPzilla will prompt you to register the product each time you start your computer. If you have your Registration Key, click ENTER REGISTRATION KEY and follow the directions.

  • I am entitled to a rebate. Where do I get a rebate form?

    If you have purchased STOPzilla from the STOPzilla Web site at the full retail price, you are eligible for a rebate. To receive a rebate, you will need to print a paper copy of the rebate form, fill it out and mail it to STOPzilla. Please click here to get the Rebate Form in pdf format.

    Mailing address and directions for processing are on the form. The rebate offer is good for thirty days from the date of purchase. This offer may not be combined with other offers, such as discounts.

  • Why do I need to scan for Spyware?

    When you first install STOPzilla, it performs a full scan of your system to remove all infections. Once STOPzilla is running, it is recommended that you perform a scan periodically to remove any traces of infection or other potentially unwanted files from your system. STOPzilla detects, blocks, quarantines, and gives you the option to remove malicious program elements. Also, STOPzilla is constantly updating its database of known malicious files. Once you update your software and then perform a scan, you are assured that you are removing the most recently identified malicious programming. To ensure that the entire unwanted program is removed -even though the program is typically benign once the malicious elements are removed- scanning is necessary. Removing the entire unwanted program clears space on your hard drive and reduces the size of your registry, resulting in faster processing and improved computer performance.

  • How often do I need to scan for Spyware?

    When you first install STOPzilla, the software performs a Full Scan automatically. Thereafter, it is recommended that you perform a Full Scan for Spyware once each week.

    You can set STOPzilla to scan automatically, at a convenient time. Or, you can scan manually anytime you wish. To scan automatically on a schedule you set: Double-click the SZ System tray icon in the lower right corner of your screen. From the navigation bar, a vertical row of buttons displayed on the left side of all STOPzilla windows, select SCHEDULER. In the Scan Scheduler group box of the SCHEDULER dialog, select Settings. In the Scan Scheduler dialog, select the type of scan, schedule, and action to be taken with infections found. You can also launch any type of scan you wish manually. From the navigation bar, select SCAN FOR SPYWARE. STOPzilla enables you to define the depth of the scan. You can perform a Quick Scan, Intelligent Scan, Custom Scan or Full Scan.

  • What is the Blacklist?

    The Black List is a running record of every Pop-up that STOPzilla has blocked, and every Pop-up that you have specifically configured.

    You can remove selected items from the list or clear the entire list by using the right-click menu functions in the Black List. You may clear your Black List at any time without affecting STOPzilla's performance in any way.

    The Black List is a way for you to see what STOPzilla has been doing. The Black List does not need to have any entries in it for STOPzilla to be working.

  • How do I use the Black List?

    To view the Black List, right-click the SZ System Tray Icon in the lower right corner of your screen and select View Black List. Or, you can (left) click the System Tray Icon. The system will display the Black List. Place you cursor over any item in the Black List and right-click to configure from the Black List menu as follows:

    VIEW Pop-up in SZ Pop-up Viewer - Select an item in the Black List and click this option to examine the contents of the selected Pop-up in a controlled environment with the STOPzilla Pop-up Viewer.

    VIEW Pop-up in Default Web Browser - Select an item in the Black List and click this option to open the pop-up in your default Web browser.

    ALLOW Selection - Select an item in the Black List and click this option. STOPzilla will automatically allow future viewing of this Pop-up. This option is only available for Pop-ups that have been explicitly blocked.

    ALLOW ALL Pop-ups from this Site - Select an item in the Black List and click this option. STOPzilla will automatically allow future viewing of all Pop-ups that come from this URL. This option is only available for Pop-ups that have been explicitly blocked.

    BLOCK Selection - Select an item in the Black List and click this option to block future load attempts by this Pop-up automatically. This option is only available for Pop-ups that have been explicitly allowed.

    BLOCK ALL Pop-ups from this Site - Select an item in the Black List and click this option. STOPzilla will automatically block future viewing of all Pop-ups that come from this URL. This option is only available for Pop-ups that have been explicitly allowed.

    Copy URL to Clipboard - Select an item and click this option to copy the URL. You can then paste it into another application, such as a search engine, in order to find out more about this potential threat.

    DELETE Popup from List - Select an item in the Black List and click this option to remove it from the Black List. Any future display attempt by this Pop-up will be looked at as new by STOPzilla. This also serves as a privacy feature, erasing traces of Pop-up attempts that could be seen by other users of your computer.

    CLEAR Black List - Click to clear all items from the Black List and removes all entries from STOPzilla?s memory. This means that any future display attempt by all Pop-ups will be looked at as new.

    Sort - Sort your Black List entries by Time Ascending & Descending or alphabetically via URL Ascending & Descending.

    Help - Opens the STOPzilla context-sensitive HELP System.

    To select multiple URLs from the Black List, hold down the CTRL key and select (click) one item then drag your pointer over a group of URLs. To select a range of URLs, click one URL, than press and hold the Shift key while you click the URL at the end of the desired range.

  • How do I uninstall (remove) STOPzilla from my computer?

    You can remove STOPzilla from your computer just as you would any other software application.

    To remove STOPzilla from your system:
    1. Right-click the System Tray Icon in the lower right corner of your screen and click Exit STOPzilla!
    2. Ensure that no programs are running. Shut down all Internet Explorer browsers.
    3. If you are using Windows XP: Click Start in the lower left corner of your screen. From the Start menu, select Control Panel. From the Control Panel menu, select Add or Remove Programs.
    4. Select STOPzilla! from the list of programs in the Add or Remove Programs dialog. Click Remove.
    5. Follow the on-screen prompts until finished.
    6. If you are using Windows Vista: Click the Start icon in the lower left corner of your screen. From the Start menu, select Control Panel. From the Control Panel menu, select Programs. From the Programs menu, select Uninstall a Program.
    7. Select STOPzilla! from the list of programs in the Add or Remove Programs dialog. Click Remove.
    8. Follow the on-screen prompts until finished.


  • How do I reinstall STOPzilla?

    STOPzilla can be reinstalled from a CD (disc), if you have one, or downloaded from the STOPzilla Web site.

    To reinstall STOPzilla from a CD (disc):
    1. Insert the STOPzilla disc into your CD or DVD drive. If you have Autorun enabled on your computer, the setup program will launch automatically and you can skip to Step 4.
    2. In the lower left corner of your screen, Click Start. From the Start options, select Run...
    3. In the Open: text field, type d:\setup (if your CD or DVD drive uses another letter, use that in place of d.)
    4. Follow the on-screen prompts until finished.

    Go to the STOPzilla Web site download page, http://www.stopzilla.com Follow the download directions provided. There is no charge for reinstalling the software.
